Funday

Yesterday was pretty enjoyable. I made the family a big brunch I made bacon, crappy eggs, toast, stewed tomatoes, and happy face hash brown/fry things. We got Taylor a new booster seat for the van very nice. We are all loving it. Taylor loves the fact she is in a regular seat belt and wants to put it on all the time by herself. Its nice though cause Eastynn dropped her juice and Taylor was able to reach down and get it save us a lot of trouble. We went to Tino's for a quick bit to eat, so yummy. Then we went to Echodale it was so hot though we didn't stay long. I wanted to divert the girls from the playground equipment since the slides were extremely hot. So we left and went to the leisure center cause till July 2ND none of the outdoor pools are open on Sundays. I can't wait to go though it will be so much fun. Although the leisure center is nice no UV rays there. We had fun there. After that we went and picked up a few things at Wal-Mart. Came home got the girls ready for bed and that was that.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary Brian and Eva. Hope you guys have a fantastic day
Love Fabian, Nikki, Taylor & Eastynn

Fun In Elkwater

Yesterday once I came home from darts. Fabian went out for a college reunion type thing obviously with his college buddies. I wanted to go swimming but Eastynn could still potentially be contagious so didn't want to put anyone else at risk. So I called Becky and asked her what they were up to and they were out at Elkwater and there was fireworks so we went out there for the evening. The girls had a blast. Eastynn loved the fireworks Taylor thought they were to loud. After they were done we drove up to the cabin and seen Colin, Chris, Tara, and Nolan. Uncle Colin played some games with the girls and then we had to leave cause it was so late.

On The Mend

Eastynn is on the mend. She is still having some times of the day where she doesn't know what she wants. Hopefully that will pass soon. Tonight Fabian went out with some old buddies from college. So me and the girls had KFC we were sitting at the table for 10 minutes while Eastynn whined so I finally thought this is a perfect day to have a carpet picnic so I put a blanket down on the floor and she has been sitting and eating contently ever since so thats good. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them tonight cause Eastynn can't go to the pool it may have to be a park night but hopefully it will cool down here a little soon and it will be all good.

Update on Eastynn

So we thought Eastynn had a throat infection. When she got up from her nap at 2:30 she wouldn't stop crying. I text Fabian at 3:00 and asked him if he could come home he said at 4:30. She wouldn't stop so I phoned Health Link she said take her to the ER right away so by 4:00 I called Fabian and told him he needed to come home. He did he took her in around 5ish and they got home at 8:00 with the new diagnosis that she has hand, foot, and mouth disease.
Here is some info about it check this website out

First Birthday

On Saturday Eastynn was invited to her first birthday party that was basically her little friend, we all got to go. It was a little boy from our swimming class. It was fun Taylor played with a little guy who was a month younger than her and Eastynn played with a little guy who was a couple weeks younger than her. Lots of fun.

Last Friday Work Golf

Last week Fabian and I went golfing with some of his co-workers. It was fun we went in 2 different groups but I was avoiding the hard core party animals in his group. We joined up the last 2 holes and was annoyed with the party animals but happy to meet up with Fabian. It was nice to hang out and party a little with Fabian and his co workers.

Eastynn is a little sick

Eastynn woke up crying last night I told Fabian to go get her because I thought his alarm was about to go off. He went to get her and I peaked over at the clock and it was only 3:30. Eastynn was crying so hard. It didn't take me long to figure out she had a sore throat. She stayed up till morning as did Taylor for some reason. Once Fabian had a shower and got ready he took Eastynn to the doctor who confirmed she had a throat infection and gave her some antibiotics. She has been sleeping since about 10am and its now 2:30 so she was wiped.
On another not I started another blog for my darts. its http://www.niknacsdarts.blogspot.com

All A Little Sick Lately

Since we have all got home we have all been a little sick. :(
I came home sick just with a head cold and it got much much worse since then. I have had a much more intense head cold and a very sore throat, it kept in in bed most of Sunday.
Taylor was not feeling to hot on Friday complaining of a sore tummy. Then Saturday I took her temperature and it was a 104.7F/40.39C fortunately it broke with just a little bit of Advil. She has been pretty good ever since.
Fabian has a touch of something too. He has a slight cold or else he isn't showing it as much as the rest of us. Last night his stomach was bothering him a little too.
As for Little E. She has just started to come down with something I believe she has a sore throat she didn't eat much this morning. Her temperature right now is 104.3F/40.18C a bit high. I'm hoping it comes down her with some Advil and some Tylenol. I would take them to the hospital but all they usually do there is double the dose of Advil and send them home so I will just monitor her here at home and if it gets much higher then I will take in.
I sure hope we all start feeling better soon.

Taylor's Play School Windup

On Tuesday Taylor had her play school windup. It was short and sweet. They sang a bunch of songs and counted to 10 for us in French, Spanish, and Japanese. I have videos posted on face book if you want to check out other than that the pictures will have to do.

My Final Night

After I was done in Ladies Singles me, Barry, and Tammy (one of the nicest ladies I ever met) we went for a couple drinks then down to the lounge for some appetizers. Then the dart association had a karaoke night planned we went to that and then a few team Alberta players and a few PEI players all went out to a club dancing. When we got back we hung out in the lobby and it was time to say good-bye. I had really just started to get to know Tammy over the last couple days and really liked her and wish that we didn't have to say good bye to her or Barry.
Well next year I will hopefully get to see them again.

Canadian Open Singles

So finally the last event I played in ladies singles. This was a great event top 4 make it out of section. In out section today we had one of the girls I had screwed up against in the America's Cup Qualifier. I mentioned to her I was sorry for the day before and I would show her how I can really play and I did :)
In our section there was 5 of us and 3 of us tied for first so we through 9 darts to see who place where I came in first.
Next round I get matched up with one of the mom of one of the girls that use to live in Alberta and she even stayed at my parents house when we all still lived there. They are 2 nice women. The girl I was playing couldn't hit a score though so I took advantage of that as best I could. I bet her 3 straight out of a possible 5.
Next round I get Georgina another Albertan who also use to stay at mom and dads house. She was scoring really good until it was time to hit a double and then she was done I beat her 3 straight too. Next round I wasn't so lucky though I took out the first match, Mandy got the second I had 72 on the third and just missed my double and Mandy took out a 152 which totally pumped her up and then she was on fire and I couldn't hit a thing.

Canadian Open Mixed Doubles

The same day as the Nordor and the America's cup qualifier was mixed doubles. I was really looking forward to it thought I could make some good cash and have a good time but my partner figured it was a good night to drink and have a good time. I went to those tournaments to play a higher caliber of darts and my partner apparently went the for a good time and to drink. So needless to say we didn't do to well. We got joint 17th and got out money back but thats not what i was hoping for. I talked to my partner the next day and expressed my disappointment in him which made me feel a lot better.
That's all for now.

America's Qualifier

There was a small tourney that I decided I should play. If you made it out top 2 in section. Then you had to finish top 2 overall. If I would have done I would have went to Trinidad and Tobago from July 23-26 or something to play darts. I was so tired and feeling the effects of this cold I have I couldn't play at all I couldn't add or subtract nothing was working for me then I got flustered which just made it worse for me. There was 5 in our section and I place 4th or 5th. I didn't even want to go to trinidad and tobagao it is coming way to fast for my liking. There is a tourney in Calgary July 13th weekend and then the weekend after that too and then 3 days after that would have been that way to much.
Anyway thats all for now

The Nodor Cup

The Nordor Cup is a very interesting event. Its the most fun and intense.
What we did is took the top 7 players from our team and our first round was against Manitoba. We played best of 3 against them all. 7 of us played there 7 at the same time 4 wins over all takes you to the next round. I was the first player done with a win and as it turns out we had a clean sweep over Manitoba. Then we played Quebec but we were not so lucky. Again I was the first one down but this time with a lose not a win. By the time the last player on her final game it was 3 and 3 so all the pressure were on the 2 players thank goodness it wasn't me. Anyway Quebec beat us that round and that was it for the Nordor Cup the men did a lot better than the women they finished 2nd overall which was really nice.
That's all for now

The Banquet

Well the banquet was the same as any other banquet some OK food a lot of useless speeches but it was ok when they talked about me or my team. LOL. There was lots of old stuff given out and other stuff. Overall team Alberta finished 3 behind Newfoundland who got second and Ontario won it. There was a lady on team Ontario she won the ladies singles, the ladies doubles, and the mixed doubles which hasn't been done in some years the last time it was done was by an Albertan.
Anyway after all the presentations and stuff we had the dance which was such a blast I haven't danced in so long and I won't be waiting that long to go dancing again. Is still managed to make it into bed by 1:30 which was nice cause the next day was a big one.
That's all for now

I forgot to post about one whole event. The Meet and Greet.

On the Monday before everything started we had a meet and greet dart tournament. After the ladies doubles at the Red River Classic. A guy from PEI came and asked me if I had a partner I said no and he asked me if I'd be interested in playing so I did. He was the number one seed on his team. We played but we didn't make our section which is alright it was a long week and I made a new friend that I'm sure will be my friend indefinately. It was fun anyway.
That's all for now

Day 3 Nationals

So day 3 was mixed doubles coaches and captains thought this would be our best event and I think it was.
My partner was Mike Dwyer we ended up in a 4 way tie for 3rd and 4th so we each had to throw one game of 701 instead of 501 and me and Mike lit it up and played so well. After section and talking to all the other teams every singles Alberta team made it out of section. I heard some of the veterans on the team talking and saying they don't think it has every happened before. Then I over heard Taff talking and he figures it hasn't happened in any province before. So that was very cool.
Our first round we got knocked out as did most of the teams and I think only 3 made it through the first round of knock outs and 2 of those teams had to play each other. Then there was 2 and then the one team got knocked out and then Rikk and Cindy were the only Alberta team going and they lost in the finals to Ontario.
That's all for now.

Day 2 Nationals

Well what was I thinking now I have to go back and try and remember how that overwhelming week went.
Day 2 at the Nationals was ladies singles. We had 11 teams in our section one from almost every province and one from NWT. Anyway 11 teams in our section top 4 make it out of there section. I played really well in section I lost to Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, and I honestly don't remember the 4th one I lost to although I know I was mad about it so I probably shouldn't have lost.
Then comes knock out and first round I get Quebec I was shaking Quebec and Ontario are 2 of the strongest teams. We played best of 5 and I beat her 3 straight I couldn't believe how well I played.
Next round I get Ontario (see previous paragraph yep one of the strongest teams). I won the fist leg (game) she won the next 2 so I had to win the next one or game over. She had a huge lead on me but thank god she crumbled under the pressure and gave me a shot at the double and I hit it. So fifth and final leg we had to shot at the bull to see who goes first and we tied so we had to do it again and I won. So I start off the last game of 501 with a 180 then 100 and 80something so I had a substantial lead on her and by this time I has all of team Alberta and Ontario watching. And about another 100 people from other provinces it was very intense.
So going into the quarter finals I come up against Patricia Farrell one of the top players in Canada for many many years. She wins the first 2 legs I sneak back and grab the third one but lose the 4th which is game over for me for the day.
It was such an amazing day I way exceeded all of my expectations which was a good feeling. I also went the furthest out of all the Alberta players which was really nice too. And to see and hear all the comments about a rookie doing so well on her first year and the fact they can't believe I have never been there was so cool.

Taylor and Eastynn's New Friends

Yesterday Brooklynn brought over a couple of her younger cousins to play with Taylor and Eastynn. Bailey who is 3 years old I think and Taryn who is only about 3 months old. Taylor had fun with "her new best friend" Bailey. They played tea party with a tea set that Bailey had brought with her. Eastynn wanted to hold Taryn as soon as they got here. I think she thought she was a doll or something, cause she held on to her tight. Almost a little too tight. All in all they had a fun little play date. Our small vacation is unfortunetly almost over. We will be heading back to Medicine Hat on Saturday. It has been fun, even though the weather was not the best. Sunday Nikki will be home from Winnipeg. We all miss her very much and cannot wait to see her again and give her lots of hugs and kisses. That is all for now.

Day 1 Nationals

Today was day 1 of the nationals. We started off which was pretty cool as everyone walked in but very boring while everyone did there speeches. Then we got our pics taken I can't wait to see them I will be sure to post them.
We started off with a huge bang we one our first 4 matches. Then kind of hit a brick wall. We only one more match after this. We play best of 3. And in total we got 13 points which is awesome, cause apparently as a team we only got 47 I think so we had a good chunk of that.
We had only 2 teams make there section and it was 2 of the mens teams. One was Nathan and Ken McNeil they got knocked out first round. But Billy McDowell and Trevor Hobbs got joint third. People have been telling me to take in the experience and as I was watching the semi's I just kind of looked around and soaked it all in. People can tell you all you want that its better and different than just a regular tournament but you would never know till your here. I'm loving it.
That's all for now.

Uneventful Couple Of Days

The last couple of days have been pretty uneventful. Have not really done a lot here in the busy town of Stockholm. Yesterday we went to the playground again in the evening to play a little. Also had fun watching Papa Huuuber cut the grass. I have been helping Papa Huber with some things and Grandma and the kids have been going for walks around town and playing in the yard. The kids really seem to be enjoying it. They always want to go outside, which is good I guess. Tomorrow should be a little more exciting. Aunty Brooklynn will be coming over. The kids will be pretty excited to see her. That is all for now.

Hail The Rookies

Today we played ladies doubles and HELL YEAH the rookies did the best out of all the teams. For the most part I think ever one made there sections but no one made it quite as far as we did. We ended up joint third.
That's all for now

Red River Classic Day 2

Yesterday I was to sick to post.
But here I am today. Yesterday we played mixed doubles and Trevor and I made our section but we got knocked out first round. Although our team mates Crystal and Tim ended up winning the whole day.
Then we played ladies singles and men's singles. I obviously didn't play the mens singles. I did again make my section which was good cause most of the girls from the team didn't even make section. Carl Mercer ended up joint third for the men and that was our best showing for the singles for the day.
That's all for now.

Ride The Horsee

This morning I took the kids to the school playground here in town. I wish I would have brought a camera with me. One of the local farmers in town has a barn just outside of the school property and they had a horse there. The farmer was taking his three year old granddaughter out for a ride and saw us checking out there horse. They came over and offered to give Taylor and Eastynn a ride. They both got on the horse and and got taken for a little ride while I walked beside them and held them on. Both kids really enjoyed it. I am kicking myself for not taking a camera, but never thought we would be riding a horse or anything. Will take a camera everywhere we go from now on while we are here. We are still in Stockholm, and will be here till the end of next week. That's all for now.

Stockholm Day 1

While Nikki is away at Nationals in Winnipeg, the kids and myself are visiting Grandma and Grandpa Huber in Saskatchewan. Today we went to some garage sales in town. I guess they had planned it for everyone to have a garage today, and there was a pancake breakfast as well. The kids seemed to have a good time, and Grandma had fun going to the garage sales. Will post more with all our adventures.

Winnipeg Day 1

So we arrived in Winnipeg yesterday. There was a blind draw last night and of all the people and all the provinces you guessed it I got drawn with another Albertan. I was really happy with the draw though we made it out of our section, which was a nice pleasent surprise. First round of knock out we met up with yet another Albertan oh well that's the game I guess. Today is mixed doubles and ladies singles so I will update everyone later.
That's all for now.

Spectrum

This weekend was not only the Relay For Life but also Spectrum. Eastynn is still not old enough to enjoy it as you can see by the photo. Taylor on the other hand can't get enough of it. Although the poor girl gets way to overly stimulated and can't handle it. She had lots of little break downs but overall she did very well. She went on the blow up jumpers this year she even went on the motorbikes (power wheel ones), she also went on the power wheel jeeps and the ferris wheel. We met up with Taylor's little buddy Nathan and his brother Jacob and his grandma and dad, it was pretty fun. But the weekend is finally over. And now I am a week away from something that 4 years ago was just a dream. Nationals are within reach and I hope I can help Alberta bring back the gold. I will keep everyone updated through here how I am doing at Nationals while hopefully Fabian will keep you all updated on how the girls are doing in Saskatchewan with Grandma and Grandpa Huber.
That's all for now
